Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $325 helped to buy wood and glue for her wood lamination.

Virginia's story

Virginia is 38 years old and lives in Bagong Silang with her husband and four school-aged children. She describes herself as a hard worker and one who wants to move her family ahead in life. For about the last three years she has been working as a housekeeper, where she does all types of work.

At present, she is engaged in her wood lamination business. The loan that she is requesting is for the purchase of wood and other materials needed in wood lamination to allow her to do a better job. By purchasing these items, she will improve the quality of her work and have more customers. Her dream is to have her own premises to set up her carpentry shop in a better way, and to help her family financially.
