Joulafè lives by herself, and is solely responsible for her different needs. To provide for herself, she has worked for around seven years selling pillows, mattresses and brooms. This business allows her to meet her needs without any great difficulty. Joulafè gets her supplies in a market in Benin. In order to ensure customer satisfaction, as well as to increase her sales and income, she has requested a fourth loan from ALIDé along with the other members of the Mahuena group. This loan will allow them to increase their business levels, as well as to expand their customer bases and have greater income.

Le groupe MAHUENA est composé de trois personnes qui résident dans un même quartier. La représentante du groupe, du nom de Joulafè est celle qui a la main levée sur la photo. Joulafè est âgée de 55 ans et est une veuve. Joulafè est mère de trois enfants, dont certains sont scolarisés. Aucun des enfants n’est plus à sa charge. Joulafè vit seule et assure seule ses différents besoins. Pour y arriver, Joulafè vend depuis environs sept ans, des oreillers, des matelas et des balais. Cette activité lui permet de répondre sans grande difficulté à ses besoins. Joulafè s’approvisionne dans un marché du Bénin. Dans la quête de la satisfaction de sa clientèle et pour accroître son chiffre d’affaires et son revenu, Joulafè sollicite ensemble avec les autres membres du groupe MAHUENA, un quatrième crédit auprès de ALIDé. Ce prêt leur permettra de rehausser le niveau de leur activité et d’accroître leur clientèle et leur revenu.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
