A loan of $1,075 helped to buy sodas, water, fruit, sugar, etc.

Lelia Orfelia's story

The loan group "María Auxiliadora" gets together every 15 days in the parish of La Sequita de Montecristi, a canton known for the famous straw hats that are appreciated by people near and far.

Lelia lives here and is 73 years old. She has been separated from her husband for years, but in their relationship, they had 7 children, all of whom are grown up and independent now.

Leila, in order to survive and have enough for her costs of living, a few years ago put a small bar into her house where she sells water, sodas, energy drinks, ice, beer, and other drinks. She takes advantage of the fact that every day people get together right in front of her house to play sports where there are football (soccer) and volleyball courts. She also makes delicious fruit ices. She has had her business open for more that 10 years, and it has served to cover her expenses, since she lives alone.

This loan will be used to buy sodas, water, fruits, sugar, etc. to prepare delicious ice creams. She has been a member of the communal bank since the beginning and she likes it because the loans have helped her to get ahead in life.

Her dreams are to continue moving forward and to have good health.
