A loan of $500 helped to buy a cow.

Leonardo Ernesto's story

Leonardo, 42, lives in his own home with his mother. He is single and has no children, and lives near his two siblings. They all have homes built on the land they inherited from their father. Leonardo is a farmer, which is the family tradition, and grows corn, sorghum and yucca. He enjoys good harvests where he is located, around the Chaparrastique volcano.

He buys farm supplies in a city about three kilometers away and uses a public transport bus to get there. He sells his produce to wholesale merchants in the municipal market.

The loan will be used to buy a cow to take advantage of the harvest waste and stubble. The family diet will improve with a supply of milk and cheese.

His goal is to buy cattle to produce milk and sell it in his community, and also expand his corn and vegetable crop growing.
