She has this business so that she can contribute to paying the household expenses, and gets her supplies in a market in Benin. In order to ensure customer satisfaction, she has asked for her first loan, along with the other members of the Mahoudjro 2 group. This loan will allow them to better meet their customers’ requests, as well as to generate more profits.

MAHOUDJRO 2 est un groupe de trois personnes, dont les membres sont des amies appartenant à un même groupe de tontine. La représentante du groupe, Mireille (dont la main est levée sur la photo), est âgée de 31 ans et est mariée à un certain Lucien. Mireille est mère de quatre enfants dont certains scolarisés et tous à la charge du couple. Mireille vit ensemble avec ses enfants et son mari. Le couple assure ensemble les diverses charges de la famille. Il y a près de dix ans que Mireille vend divers articles et des condiments près d’une place publique du Bénin. Mireille mène cette activité afin de pouvoir aux besoins du ménage. Mireille s’approvisionne dans un marché du Bénin. Dans la quête de la satisfaction de sa clientèle, Mireille sollicite un premier crédit avec les autres membres du groupe MAHOUDJRO 2. Ce crédit leur servira à mieux répondre aux demandes de leur clientèle et à se faire plus de profits.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
