Jeanette's story

Jeanette is 39 years old and lives in the town of Kabwohe in Kabwohe, Uganda. She is and has 4 children, 2 of whom are currently in school. For the past 9 years, Jeanette has been working hard to manage her retail store, which sells jelly, soap and sugar. To help expand her business, Jeanette has requested a loan of 2,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to stock more commodities like sugar and soap to sell, allowing Jeanette to generate greater profits and pay for her children's education. Jeanette hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business. Jeanette is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Jeanette who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
