Thtis communal bank is called “Creciendo Contigo” [Growing WIth You]. It is made up of 18 entrepreneurs who work in different areas. among htem are: selling pperfume, selling clothes, a store, selling bread, artisan crafts, services, and more. All of them are from the city of Linares.

Guido is a member of the communal bank. He is standing in the second row in the photo, the first one on the left, wearing a brown sweater. His hair is short and white and he has a beard. He has worked selling vegetables for 3 years. He says that besides selling vegetables, he sells rasberries, hay and animals. He works for himself and arranges his schedule according to availability.

The merchandise and materials that he needs he buys in different locales and suprtmarkets where he can find low cost merchandise, so it is convenient financially. With the loan, one of Guido's goals is to grow in his line of work and have the possibility of giving other people work that they need.

At this time, Guido lives alone. His dreams for his work are to grow, be a great businessman, and for his personal life to stay healthy and continue in this area. He is very happy and grateful to the help offered by Fondo Esperanza, since this will allow him to invest in his business. He remarks that the trainings have been fundamental for his business and also for his personal development, because he has learned to organize and distribute his income and investments better. He also says that the group he is a member of has very good communication.

Linares is an important urban center in the region of Maule, located in the central area of the country. In this area there is agriculture and wine producing that excels in export. The cultivation of grains also stands out (rice, wheat, corn and oats) as well as vegetables (beets, cabbage, lettuce, swiss chard and legumes) and fruit. Linares is the province where the most rice is produced in Chile. In fact, 78% of the national production of this grain is in this province, especially in the area of Parral.
