A loan of $2,125 helped to buy bulls and sheep.

Khaukharkul's story

Khaukharkul is 53 years old, married, and has one son. She and her husband work in a hospital, but the main source of the family's income is from the work Khaukharkul and her husband do in animal husbandry and growing crops. They began 29 years ago with a start-up sum of 10,000 Kyrgyzstan Som (KGS). Today their farm includes 3 dairy cows, a calf, a bull, 55 head of sheep and 2 horses, and the family also works 1.5 hectares of irrigated land. Their monthly income from their farm is around 15,000 KGS. For the purpose of further developing her business, Khaukharkul has approached Bai Tushum & Partners for a loan of 100,000 KGS to buy bulls. She plans to re-invest the income generated by the loan into further developing her business and improving her housing conditions.
