A loan of $1,200 helped a member to buy sand, cement, and gravel for making concrete pipes.

Chamroeurn's Group's story

Chamroeurn is married and has one child in school. She and her family live in a rural village in the Kror Kor district of Pursat Province. She covers their cost of living with her 1.5-hectare rice field, and her husband supplements the family income by producing concrete pipes to sell. With her five years' experience in this business, she is able to save up to 17,000 KHR per day, after offsetting expenses from her income of 57,000 KHR.

This loan will be Chamroeurn's second with Kiva partner VisionFund. She has successfully paid back her first loan in full, and it helped her to have sufficient working capital to purchase fertilizer to boost her crop productivity. Chamroeurn now is the leader of a microloan group consisting of four members. She and one of her co-borrowers are each seeking 1,000,000 KHR while the other two members are requesting 1,400,000 KHR each. Chamroeurn will use her entire portion to support her husband's business by purchasing sand, cement, and gravel for making concrete pipes. She hopes this purchase will help her husband to make a lot of tanks for resale in a timely fashion. Any additional profit will enable them to keep their only daughter in school.
