A loan of $975 helped to purchase clothing, perfume, and sandals.

María De Lourdes's story

The Caña Brava de 24 De Mayo Communal Bank meets in 24 de Mayo Canton, in the province of Manabí. This canton is known for its beautiful scenery and for its hardworking people who are engaged in farming and raising animals.

María De Lourdes, 51 years old, lives here. She is married and has three adult children; the youngest still lives with her. Her husband works for the transit commission.

María De Lourdes is a woman who likes to stand on her own two feet and earn her own income to help pay the household expenses. She sells all types of clothing, sandals, and perfumes. Once a month, her sister sends her new merchandise from the United States and customers come to her home to make purchases. She extends credit and collects payments weekly. She has been in business over ten years and has a good clientele. She also owns a tourist resort in the canton where she lives.

She will use this loan to purchase clothing, perfumes, and sandals. This is her fourth loan cycle with the communal bank and she likes the loans because they are quick and very helpful. Her dream is to expand her business and her tourist resort
