María Estefania's story

The 24 de Mayo Canton is located in Manabí Province. The “Caña Brava de 24 de Mayo” communal bank meets here. This place is known for its beautiful scenery and hardworking people who work in agriculture and animal husbandry. María, 20, lives here. She’s in a free union and has two children who are 3 and 2 years. Her husband is a farmer.

She is a very hardworking young woman who likes to fend for herself and earn her own income which is why she works selling all types of clothes door to door. She works three days a week especially in the morning although most of her sales take place at home where she has some display cases. She sells on credit and collects weekly. She’s been in business more than two years and does very well. She brings her merchandise from Quito because she travels there frequently.

She will use this loan to buy pants, blouses and children’s clothes. She’s been in the communal bank for three cycles and likes it because the loans are very helpful for her business. Her dream is to provide the best for her children.
