A loan of $1,000 helped to buy fertilizer and seeds.

Hortensia Deyfilia's story

Hortensia is 61 years old and married, with one child who is 16 years old. Hortensia dedicates herself to operating a plant nursery which is located at her own home. She sells from her sales stand which is located in the upper Obrajes zone, south of the city of La Paz. This loan is her ninth with the institution, and Hortensia will use this loan to buy fertilizer and seeds to plant. Her reason for requesting this loan is to cultivate seasonal flowers to offer for sale. One challenge Hortensia confronts in her business is a lack of space to diversify her plants. She will use the benefits from this loan to improve her system of seed trays, which is a method of planting resulting from the germination and development of a botanical or vegetative seed, growing in cells of a tray in a sterilized artifical substrate, over a specific period of time, in order to be transplanted to its final location in the soil, depending on the type of plant. Her desire for her business is to expand the space, so she can diversify her work.
