A loan of $1,475 helped to buy cattle.

Moustapha's story

Moustapha is 58 years old, married and the father of four. He lives with his wife and children in a polygamous family in Bougouni.

After attending Koranic School, he tried several business ideas, but without success. After serious reflection, he decided to learn the cattle trade from his uncle. Thanks to modest business funds from a brother, he was able to set up his own business in the same area as many others of his own ethnicity - buying and selling animals, mainly cattle.

With more than 15 years experience, he knows the business well and is much appreciated and sought-after.

He has fully repaid seven previous loans and this is his eighth. It will be used to buy 10 head of cattle. Moustapha buys stock in Bougouni and the surrounding area. He sells his stock at the cattle market in Bougouni. His clients are mainly butchers and traders from Bamako.

With this loan, Moustapha is hoping to make 150 000 CFA francs per month, which will help him meet family expenses and repay the loan.
