Ream's Group's story

Married and a mother of three schoolchildren, Ream is a villager from Moungkul Borey district of Banteay Meanchey province. She has struggled in overcoming the family's financial hardship through working as a paid worker and raising pigs. Her husband also helps her with this business, and additionally he also uses his free time to catch fish to sell, for extra income. The current business, which she has been with for 15 years, earns her about 25,200 KHR per day.

Ream is now in a group of three, all of which are fifth-time borrowers. Ream is the group leader. She has used her past loan, which she has paid back completely, smartly in order to maintain her business and her living condition. Now, she is applying for 800,000 KHR while other two members in her group are seeking for 1,000,000 KHR each.

Ream will use her portion of the loan to purchase two more pigs to raise, pig feed and more fishing material for her husband. She hopes to fatten her pigs in a healthy condition so she can sell them for a high price. By doing so, she can earn a larger income and keep all of her children in school.
