Sarim is 49 years old and married. Her family resides in Pursat province, Kror Kor district, in Cambodia. She is blessed with six children. Some of her children are students and still under her responsibility while the others have their own employment.
To support her family, Sarim has a business farming rice and raising pigs, earning around 20,000KHR and saving approximately 10,000KHR after deducting her daily cost of living. Sarim’s husband also makes palm juice in order to earn extra income for the family.
Sarim is a second-cycle client with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). The past loan helped her guarantee food security for her family as well as improve her family’s livelihood. Sarim is requesting a KHR 3,000,000 loan. She plans on utilizing some of her loan to purchase more pigs to raise and feed for her pigs. The other portion of the loan will be spent on buying a bamboo ladder to support her husband’s business.
After receiving this loan and wisely using it, Sarim will be so excited and can not wait to see the improvement in her current business as well as her husband’s business, which leads to more income for the family.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
