A loan of $1,200 helped to buy a new mill, fertilizer and herbicides.

Manuel Isidro's story

Manuel lives with his wife and three children.

He is a farmer, machinist and mill operator. He performs these activities as a way to earn money and help his family.

At the moment, he does not perform the job of ship machinist because the ship has stopped working. He only grows corn and lends his services to the community with his “nixtamal” (boiled corn) mill.

Manuel is asking for a loan primarily to buy a new mill and to install it in a different place. The rest will be used to buy fertilizer and herbicides for his corn and “pipian” (type of squash/pumpkin) crops. This loan will help give Manuel the opportunity to continue working.

Manuel’s aspirations are to build a home to keep his family comfortable, and to increase the production of his crops.
