A loan of $1,150 helped to make improvements to his house.

Steven Jose's story

Steven, 18, is single and lives in the city of Chincha with his parents and siblings. He is very likeable, hardworking, and enthusiastic and has the desire to get ahead. Sadly, Steven has not been able to study a profession, but he would like to do so. In his free time, he likes to watch television. Sometimes, his mother cooks his favorite, delicious local dish, Carapulcra con Sopa Seca, to spoil him.

On his own initiative and with hard work and dedication, Steven works as a plant operator for a textile company in the city. He works every day from early in the morning, and he can work about 12 hours a day. Sometimes, he works in rotating shifts. He likes his job and thinks he is doing well because of his hard work and friendly manner toward others.

Steven thanks the Kiva lenders, whose help will let him make improvements to his house. He wants to paint, plaster, and pour a concrete floor in his home. Steven´s house will be in better repair, which will assure the well-being and safety of his family. He hopes to keep working hard so that slowly he will achieve his great dream to have a profession and to own his own house.
