A loan of $775 helped to purchase organic fertilizer.

Eugenia's story

Eugenia, 55, is a hardworking woman. She lives in the company of Felix, her husband of 20 years. Together they have two children: Alejandro and William whom they care for in their own home. The work to which this self-sacrificing woman devotes herself is varied. In the mornings she works on the cleaning staff of her town's government where she receives a monthly salary. In the afternoons she tends her plantings of corn, potato and beans which she sells in the wholesale market of the city of Huancayo where she is well-known for the quality of her crops. On weekends she sells ornamental flowers in a central location of the city, a spot she was able to acquire thanks to her effort and work. It is her primary property and she makes use of it selling beautiful flowers for all occasions. She comments that she travels monthly to the country's capital to purchase a diverse array of flowers. She is well-known because she has been doing this for 12 years. However, since she makes use of every opportunity that comes her way, she also raises animals such as sheep, pigs and cows which she later sells at a higher price once they have matured.

She belongs to the "Manos fuertes" [Strong Hands] communal bank and this is her 16th loan with MFP where she feels she has developed since she gets the financial support she needs to progress in her business. Thus she commits to making her payments on time.

Eugenia will invest the money requested in the purchase of organic fertilizer to distribute amongst her plantings.
