A loan of $250 helped to clear his parcel of land and prepare the soil for planting coffee.

Francisco's story

Francisco has been producing coffee for 30 years, though from a young age his parents taught him everything related to this crop.

Currently he looks after his parcel of land with the help of his five sons, to whom he has taught the occupation of producing coffee.

During the last harvest he had an output of 11 tons of organic coffee, and needs a loan to be able to do clearing work and to prepare the land for growing more coffee.

Unlike the majority of the producers, who wish to increase their production, he wishes to increase the quality of his coffee and continue maintaining the soil in good condition through the use of organic fertilizers that do not damage the environment. This is because he wishes to leave good land to his children and grandchildren, so that in the future they also can continue harvesting coffee and continue the family tradition.

Currently he has a nursery of coffee plants, which he sells for replanting, and which help him support his family until the harvest time arrives.
