A loan of $125 helped a member to buy materials for constructing a proper latrine.

Sokchea's Group's story

Originally from a rural village of the Kandal Stoeng district where crop farming is a common way to earn a living, Sokchea, 37, is married and has five children. She grows rice as the main business for the family’s income, while her husband complements the family’s income by working as a paid construction worker in the local area. Having been in the business for ten years, they can earn about 15,000KHR per day to respond to the family’s needs, and manage to save about 3,000KHR each day after deducting daily expenses.

Sokchea is the first cycled client with VisionFund. Now she is leading her group of three to ask for a loan of 160,000KHR each. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy materials for constructing a proper latrine for her family’s use. She hopes this loan will enable her family to have a healthy latrine for an improved life.
