A loan of $375 helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farmland.

Learen's Group's story

Originally from the Dambae district of Kampong Cham Province, Learen is a 38-year-old married woman with three children, all still in school. She has been planting cassava for five years. To better feed her household, Learen has also run a bakery for three years. From her current businesses, she is able to earn about KHR 6,000 per day and saves about KHR 4,000 each day after daily expenses. Learen has been with VisionFund for three loan cycles and has successfully repaid all her loans while the other member has been with VisionFund for one cycle. The past loans have helped Learen to improve her standard of living. In a confident manner, she is leading a group of two to request a new loan. Her amount is KHR 1,000,000, while the other member is applying for KHR 500,000. Learen will use her loan to buy fertilizer for her farmland and to pay for labor to plow the field. She hopes her cash-crop thrives, so she can earn more profit to keep her children in school.
