A loan of $600 helped to buy books.

Victor Manuel's story

Víctor is 62 years old. He lives in the city of Nazca with his wife and their four children, whom he loves very much. They are his biggest motivation in life. Víctor is a kind, hardworking, and enthusiastic person. In his free time, he likes to read and eat his wife's special dish, "Ají de Gallina" (Peruvian chicken stew in a spicy, nutty cheese sauce), which she makes to spoil him since it is his favorite dish. Víctor and his wife have worked very hard to help their family get ahead. He studied Business Administration, and with much determination and dedication, Víctor has run his own small bookstore for many years now. Besides his inventory of books, Víctor also orders books requested by his customers. Each day he starts working very early in the morning and he often works up to 12 hours a day. Víctor believes that his business has gone so well for him because he is very welcoming with all his customers. Víctor is very grateful for this Kiva loan because it will enable him to buy more books to stock his store. In this way, he hopes to increase his sales and, therefore, increase his profits. This will help him slowly grow his business.
