A loan of $550 helped to buy fruit to sell.

María Rosario's story

María has been a member of the "Nuevos Horizontes" ["New Horizons"] communal bank for 14 years. She lives in the parish of Paccha in Cuenca, a place surrounded by exuberant vegetation, with a cool climate and hard-working people who dedicate themselves to agriculture, raising animals, or in the case of many, working in the city in various economic activities.

María is 62 years old. She is the single mother of 2 children who are now grown, married and living independently. The house where she lives is her property, built thanks to her work and sacrifice.

She has worked for 45 years selling fruit. She works from Sunday to Sunday, without fixed working hours, in a market in the city. At home she also works raising guinea pigs, which are for her own consumption or for sale.

She will invest her loan in buying seasonal fruits for her business.

Her goal is to keep growing in her business.
