Santa Barbara, Honduras / Grocery Store

A loan of $775 helped to buy dairy products, staple consumer goods such as grains, snacks, common medications, and personal and household cleaning products.

Lourdes's story

Lourdes, 22, is single and lives in an urban community in the municipality of Santa Bárbara, which is in the department of Santa Bárbara.

Lourdes worked hard to get her high school education. Six months ago, she decided to start up a grocery store business where she sells corn, beans, rice, sugar, instant soups, meat and cleaning products.

She decided to request a loan for 15,000 Honduran lempiras so that she could stock up her store with more products. She plans to use the loan to buy dairy products, condiments, sausages, snacks and beverages.

Lourdes thinks that if she can stock up her store, she will have an opportunity to increase her sales and earnings.

In the future, Lourdes wants to expand her business and use the profits to complete a university degree.
