A loan of $625 helped to pay the coffee pickers.

José Amador's story

Since he was nine, José Amador has been working in the region's coffee farms. He started working together with his father and siblings and he became independent when he was twenty-one. José Amador is married to Elena, with whom he has four children. They all work in the coffee-growing business, it is a family business.

For years, José Amador and his family have been supplying “Unión Regional de Huatusco“, an association that processes and exports coffee. He is a member. For the upcoming season, José Amador is requesting a loan in order to pay the coffee pickers.

José Amador receives an extra income by selling corn, since the region is good for growing it. José Amador is now producing ten tons of coffee per year. However, he recently improved part of his land, and in two years he will be producing fifteen tons a year. Once the season is over, José Amador would like to invest in his corn fields, using the profits from the coffee business.
