A loan of $600 helped to buy local products for resale.

Hawa's story

Hawa is a married woman, who is an active trader selling local products such as smoked or dried fish and palm oil. She gets her supplies regularly from a weekly market in the sub-region. She has 22 years' experience in her business. She begins her activity at 6 o'clock in the morning and finishes at 8 o'clock in the evening. The income which she generates from her business allows her to contribute to the daily household expenses. She is a member of one of the branches of UIMCEC and is requesting a loan of 300,000 francs to buy dried fish and palm oil for resale. She has already repaid a previous loan from the same institution. Her aim is to develop her trading activity so that she can increase her profits and be able to improve her family's nutritional conditions. She would like to become a significant businesswoman in the future.
