Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $150 helped to purchase more ladies' and children's slippers for her business.

Winifred's story

Winifred, age 33, lives in West Point. She is a single parent with three children between the ages of 1 and 9. Only two of her children are in school.

For the past seven years she has been selling ladies' and children's slippers in the open square of the market. One difficulty she faces is low sales during the rainy season. She makes a profit because of the fashion slippers that she sells.

Winifred is requesting a loan to purchase more ladies' and children's slippers. Her plan for the future is to become a big business woman.
