Irma's story

Irma is from Gurjaani district of East Georgia. She is 27 years old and lives with her husband, two children (two and 12 years old), parents-in-law and a brother-in-law. Irma’s father-in-law is provided with a retirement pension. Her husband works as a singer and gets a monthly salary. The family is involved in an agricultural business. In particular, they sow onions on the family-owned land. In addition, Irma purchases nuts and produces Churchkhela (traditional Georgian sausage-shaped candies, produced with grape must, flour and nuts threaded onto a string) which is sold in the capital city. Irma is very hard-working young woman, with a great desire to get ahead.

She requested a loan to cultivate the plot of land and purchase onion seeds. The loan will help her to provide financially for her needs. She will sow onions on her agricultural land and with proper seasonal work she will be able to get a good harvest to sell at a good price. This will increase her income and Irma will renovate her house to improve the living conditions for the family.
