A loan of $475 helped a member to buy pesticides for protecting her farmland.

Nan's Group's story

A resident from a rural village of the Dambae district, Nan is a 36-year-old mother of six children, five of whom are dependent on her and still in school. The family's main sources of income have been rice farming on 1 hectare of farmland and cassava planting on 1 hectare of farmland, for the past 18 years. Nan currently can earn about KHR (Cambodian riels) 20,000 daily from her business for daily expenses. Low crop yields resulting from floods is the main challenge for her farming business.

This is the first loan for Nan’s group of three female members. She is leading her group in applying for a loan. As the leader, Nan will use her portion to buy pesticides for protecting her farmland and use the remainder to pay for labor. Nan hopes this loan will enable her to get a high yield from the plantation so as to sell the harvest for a good price to improve her standard of living.
