A loan of $750 helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farmland.

Saron's Group's story

Saron, 46 years old, is married and lives in a thatched roof house in a rural village in the Dambae district of Kampong Cham province. She and her husband have two children, one of whom is still in school. For almost ten years, Saron and her husband have earned a living through farming rice on 2 hectares of farmland and planting cassava on 3.5 hectares of farmland, earning approximately 40,000 KHR per day from the current business. She can save about 20,000 KHR each day after daily expenses.

Saron has been with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, for four cycles while the other member has been for one cycle. She completely repaid the past loans which have helped her relieve her family’s burden. Now she is leading her group of two to request 2,000,000 KHR and 1,000,000 KHR respectively. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer for her farmland and use the remainder to pay for labor costs. Saron hopes to make more crop yields and sell them for a good price so as to improve her lifestyle.
