Kim's Group's story

Kim, 46, lives with her husband and four children in a rural village in the Moung Russey district, Cambodia. Out of her four children, she still has one child (daughter) to take care of and still in school. To feed the family, Kim and her husband earn a living as farmers. They have been farming rice for ten years and sometimes work as a paid worker to earn additional income for the family. They earn about 18,000 riels (KHR) per day to spend for the family’s needs.
This is Kim’s group loan with Kiva’s partner VisionFund and her group has only two members who just with VisionFund this loan cycle. She is now leading her group to apply for another loan. Kim is going to use her portion to buy fertilizers and pesticides for her family’s business. She hopes to increase her crop yields so as to generate more income to improve her standard of living and keep her daughter in school.
