A loan of $400 helped to buy toys.

Janet's story

Janet is 20 years old. She lives in the city of Chincha with her 2-year-old daughter. whom she loves and who is her main reason for living. She is a very friendly, hardworking and enthusiastic person who dedicates all of her efforts to provide for her little one. Since she was born, Janet has been both mother and father to her.

Unfortunately, Janet was not able to study a professional career, although she would have liked to, because she had to work to support her parents from a young age. In her free time, she likes to play with her daughter, and sometimes she cooks a delicious Carapulcra con Sopa Seca (a traditional stew from her region) to share with her family.

By her own initiative, and with plenty of effort and determination, Janet started her small business selling toys and silicone spray for cars two years ago. Every day, she starts working in the early morning, selling merchandise in the Plaza de Armas in her city. She works for about 8 hours per day. She thinks the business is going well, because of the variety of toys which she offers and the friendly care which she gives her customers.

Janet is very thankful to the Kiva lenders, because thanks to their help she will be able to buy merchandise for her business, such as children's toys and silicone spray. In this way, she will be able to better stock her business, and she hopes to increase her sales and profits. This will be a great help so that, little by little, she can have her own house and provide her daughter with a better quality of life.
