Selmith's story

Selmith is 60 years old. She is a fighting woman, hardworking and happy. She is a widow and lives with her three adult children, plus five grandchildren whom she loves and spoils. They are living in their own home. Selmith sells clothing of various qualities and for all tastes, both women and men, and children, which she buys locally in the city and sometimes she brings an order from the capital, and takes them to sell in remote areas of the city, including some villages located along the river, where she makes short trips, being well known in these areas, the majority of times delivering an order. She has been in this work for more than three years, doing it sometimes with the help of some of her children, who accompany her on the river trips. She considers her business profitable because of the good earnings it gives her. She likes her work because she has an income with which she can support herself and give some pleasure to her grandchildren by buying them presents. This will be her sixth loan with MFP. She likes working with the communal bank, and hopes to continue counting on the support of the institution, promising to continue being punctual with her payments. With the 2600 soles she has requested, she will fully invest it in buying various types of clothing and fabrics, she will buy a sewing machine valued at 500 soles in order to explore sewing, and sewing materials.
