A loan of $1,175 helped to buy canned fish, mainly, and also popular cereals such as rice and wheat.

Ercilia's story

Cheerful and hard-working is Ercilia, 36, who lives with Paulino, the father of her two children. They both look out for the welfare of the household through their efforts. The wooden house they live in was given to them by her parents. She is involved in agriculture but discovered a business opportunity which was to open a grocery store. She established it four years ago thanks to a small amount of money she had saved and also with the help of Paulino, who put up almost all of the necessary shelving to display products in a room of the house. Since then she is very happy with the work she does as a merchant. This has made her very popular in the neighborhood where she has many customers and enjoys a profitable business.

Lately she has realized that she can expand the space to make it more attractive and add more variety of products. So she is planning to buy another shelf and order more products such as canned fish, which is in much demand. Then she wants to take advantage of an extra space she has at home where she could sell clothing, since she has observed a rising demand in this sector.

This is her fourth loan, and her good credit record was her best asset for getting MFP to trust her and increase the amount of the loan. She plans to use the 3,000 PEN to buy shelving and wholesale groceries for her store. These include canned fish, mainly, and popular cereals, such as rice and wheat.
