A loan of $400 helped to purchase ball-bearings, tire tubes, telescopes, piston rings and headlights.

Iris's story

Iris is a very friendly and happy 33-year-old woman. She is married to Jorge, with whom she has two children, ages 7 and 10, and they all live together in their own home. Iris makes a living fixing cars and electrical equipment for cars. She has had a mechanic's shop for the past three years in her home, right in front of one of the city's main avenues. She works with the help of an automotive technician, who makes the necessary repairs, but during times of high demand she hires other mechanics to finish the jobs faster. Iris is in charge of issuing the work tickets and invoices. The business is going very well since she has regular customers who recommend her for the excellent work done at her establishment. Now, she wants to sell spare parts with the goal of increasing her profits. This is her second loan with Kiva partner MFP, and she is very content knowing that she has financial support to be able to continue growing her working capital. Furthermore, she is convinced that she will continue being a good member of her community bank and be responsible with her payments as she has done in the past. With the loan, she plans to purchase a certain quantity of parts for motorcycles and mototaxis, like ball-bearings, tire tubes, telescopes, piston rings and headlights to carry out her work and put them up for sale.
