A loan of $700 helped a member to buy fertilizers for his farmland.

Choam's Group's story

Choam, 33, is from a rural village located in the Thmor Koul district of Battambang province. He is married and has three children, all of whom are dependents and too young for school. He and his wife earn a living by farming, on three hectares of farmland. They have been in this business for ten years. The current business earns his family about 42,000 KHR per day and they manage to save about 20,000 KHR each day, after covering daily living expenses.

This is Choam’s group's microloan with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, and he is a fourth-time borrower, while the other members are just with VisionFund this cycle. Now he is leading his group of three to ask for a loan. As the leader, Choam is going to use his portion of the loan to buy fertilizers for his farmland. With this loan, he hopes to increase his family’s income, so as to improve his living conditions.
