A loan of $400 helped a member to buy fertilizers and rice seeds for her farmland.

Sert's Group's story

Sert, 37, is married with three children, and resides in a rural village of the Thmor Koul district of Battambang province. All of her children are dependents and still in school. To support the family, Sert has been farming rice on seven hectares of farmland for ten years. Her husband plants beans on three hectares of farmland to gain more income and better support the family. Low crop yields resulting from flooding is the main challenge for her farming business. Sert has been with VisonFund for six cycles, while the other member of her group has been with VisionFund for two cycles. Sert completely paid back her previous loans from VisionFund and successfully used the money to better support her family. She and her fellow group member are applying for loans of KHR 1,400,000 and KHR 200,000 respectively. As the leader, Sert will use most of her portion to buy fertilizers and rice seeds for her farmland, and devote a portion of it to purchasing gasoline. She hopes to make more rice to increase her family’s income and make a better living.
