A loan of $200 helped to buy cosmetics.

Aurea's story

Áurea, 46, lives with Paulino, 54; they have five children together. With much effort she obtained an adobe house. A year ago she decided to change her line of work and become a beauty consultant door to door; she used to take in laundry but her customers often did not pay her and this brought her many problems.

She currently walks by herself to lots of places and she enjoys meeting new customers although she says it’s also a good way to do exercise. However, she does get tired and that lessens her will to continue but thanks to the profits she earns and the need her family has she finds the strength to go on. In order to continue working, she must amortize her customer orders with funds of her own in order to keep their trust and avoid having to insist on immediate payment that might be uncomfortable for some of her customers. Besides, she’s thinking about buying products that are on special so when she sells them she’ll earn a little extra profit.

One of her goals is to open her own local like a beauty salon specializing in cosmetology but to do so she must work very hard to accumulate enough capital. This is her second loan and it means a lot to her to know that she can rely on MFP. She likes to make her payments punctually and feels very comfortable with the way her fellow communal bank members work. She will use the 500 soles to pay her suppliers to keep their trust and at the same time will buy cosmetics on special for subsequent resale aimed at earning extra money.
