Neliberta's story

Sra. Neliberta lives in a peaceful community where corn is the main crop that is grown. Many friendly people live in this community, including Doña Neliberta, who always has a youthful smile on her face. She is 48 years old and has been married to Sr. Alejandro for 29 years. Their family includes four children who are in school.

Sra. Neliberta has been raising oxen and pigs for one year. She started this activity because she wanted to help her husband with the household expenses and her children’s educational expenses. Since childhood, she has watched many people in her community raise animals so that they can sell them. Sra. Neliberta says that she is excited about requesting a loan from Fundación Realidad because she needs to feed her oxen and pigs since this one of her difficulties. “Many times we are not able to buy food for our animals because there have been several occasions when it has been impossible because the price of feed is very expensive,” she says. If Doña Neliberta is not able to buy feed for her animals, then she will not achieve good profits. She buys feed from the time the animals are young so that they can grow and gain weight over the course of several months. Neliberta feeds the animals every morning, cleans them, and gives them water. She hopes that her animals will become large and bulky so that they can be sold at the best price.

Doña Neliberta always cares for and treats her animals well so that she can obtain the most profit. She would like to see her children finish their degrees. Sra. Neliberta adds the following comments: “It is for this reason that I continue working hard and improving my animal sales. I am very grateful to Fundación Realidad and Kiva for giving me this loan which will be of great help. I will be able to buy more feed over the next few months since this has been a worry of mine.”
