A loan of $2,700 helped to buy vegetables and fruits.

Esther's story

Mrs. Esther is a hard-working woman. She wakes up very early and starts working. She lives in a municipality where there are a lot of transportation-related activities. She has all the services she needs.

Mrs. Esther is 41, she is a widow and has four children. Two of them still depend on her.

Mrs. Esther’s stall does not have a name. She has been selling fruits and vegetables for twenty-four years. She started with this business because her husband used to sell fruits and vegetables, in a stall called “Jazmín” and she learned from him.

She is not in need, but her goal is to help her children thrive and that they graduate from the university. She also wants to expand her business, and this is why she requested a loan for buying seasonal fruits. It is during this season when sales increase the most, because it is when the “posadas” [a traditional Christmas celebration] are celebrated in Mexico.

She really appreciates the help that the institute and Kiva have given her and her business.
