A loan of $1,550 helped to buy plastic products used for household cleaning.

Elias's story

Elías is a hard-working man and this is the first time he will be a client at the institution. He is forty-two years old and studied until his third year in high school. He is married to Nicolasa and together they have formed a family with four children, all of which are still their dependents.

He has made a living selling plastic products for the past seven years. He says that he began working from a very early age because he helped with his uncles' business; he worked for them.

Elías says, "I began in the sale of pillows and cushions, wandering and yelling in the streets, but it was very difficult because I had to carry multiple pillows on my shoulders. It was complicated to work like that so I returned to the sale of plastic products. Little by little I was winning spots to sell at open-air markets, but now I have an established place."

Elías says that he does not have any problems. He makes a little bit of money to be able to buy more merchandise. He would like to grow his business to better the quality of life for his family, and so that all of his children complete their career studies.

A loan from the institution and Kiva will be a great help in order to accomplish his goals.

Elías also makes a living selling door-to-door; he began this activity because he was invited by his cousin to also work as a gas distributor close to where he lives.
