A loan of $1,000 helped to buy aluminum.

Daouda's story

Born around 1969, Daouda is married and the father of four children. He lives with his wife and children in the Faraba neighborhood of the city of Bougouni.

He left school at a young age and soon became involved in income-generating activities. For several years he tried a wide range of activities such as selling various goods at the market, but he was not very successful. Eventually he decided to learn how to become a blacksmith and he started to make and sell pots, pans, axes, knives etc.

Having more than ten years of experience in this field, he is now a very skilled blacksmith.

In order to meet the needs of an increasing number of customers, he has decided to join the loan program offered by Soro Yiriwaso. This is his third loan with the institution and he will use this loan to buy 500 kg of aluminum. With the rest of the money, he will buy some firewood for his forge.

Daouda buys his materials in Bamako (capital of the republic of Mali). After manufacturing his goods, he sells them in his shop, located along the road which links the cities of Sikasso and Bougouni. Most of his customers are housewives.

He is expecting monthly profits to reach 50,000 CFA francs, which will be used to improve his business and to cover his family expenses.
