A loan of $200 helped a member to buy materials to build a proper latrine.

Thoern's Group's story

Thoern, 50, is a rice farmer in a rural village of the Kandal province’s Sa Ang district of Cambodia. She has four children, one of whom is dependent on her and works as a garment worker in the local area. Thoern has been growing rice on one hectare of farmland for thirteen years while her husband works for others for a fee to earn additional income. The current business earns her about 12,000 KHR per day and she manages to save about 4,000 KHR each day after deducting daily expenses. Thoern’s group consists of five members who live in the same village and she is a second-cycle client with VisionFund. Now she and her fellow group member would like to request a loan. Thoern is going to use her portion to buy materials to build a proper latrine, such as toilet bowls, tile for drainage, etc. Thoern hopes this loan will enable her to have a clean latrine for her family to use.
