A loan of $300 helped a member to buy fertilizer for her rice farm and to pay for plowing the field.

Leng's Group's story

Residing in the Kror Kor district of Pursat province, Leng is married and a 49-year-old mother of four children. To meet daily basic needs, she grows rice, raises pigs, and sells fried meatballs. From these current businesses, she can earn up to 25,500 KHR per day. She has been doing this work for ages.

There are two members in Leng's group, and Leng, the leader, is a fourth-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva's partner). She has managed her past loans wisely, in upgrading her business and maintaining a good pace of her living condition. Now, she is seeking a loan of 1,000,000 KHR, and her fellow group member is applying for 200,000 KHR. Leng is going to use her portion of the loan to buy fertilizer for her rice farm and to pay for plowing the field. She expects to get a higher yield of rice from her land, and as a result, more income.
