A loan of $775 helped a member to buy fertilizer and pesticide.

Phon's Group's story

Phon, 45, is a villager living in Kampong Cham Province’s Prey Chhor district of Cambodia. She is married and has three children. Phon and her husband earn income for the family by working as rice farmers. Together, they earn approximately KHR 23,000 per day and save around KHR 8,500 after deducting the daily cost of living. This will be Phon’s third loan from Kiva’s partner VisionFund. The help that she has already received in the form of past loans has been crucial for her to improve the living conditions of her family. Now she is leading a group of five women to apply for a new loan. Phon will spend her portion of the requested loan mainly on fertilizer and pesticide. This hard-working woman also wants to run a new business growing cabbages and cucumbers. She will spend a portion of her loan on buying cabbage and cucumber seeds. Her only hope in the future is to run her business smoothly so that she can boost her income and better support her family.
