A loan of $475 helped a member to purchase fertilizer, corn seeds, chili seeds, and pesticide.

Samon's Group's story

A villager residing in a rural area of Ratanak Mondul district located in Battambang province of Cambodia, Samon is 41 years of age and married with four children, one daughter of whom is a school-aged child and still dependent on her. To make a living, Samon has a business planting corns and chilies. Having been in this business for almost 20 years, she is able to earn approximately 33,000KHR per day and save around 13,000KHR after deducting her daily cost of living.

Samon's group consists of three female members, all first-time borrowers with VisionFund (Kiva's partner). Samon is leading her group to request a loan in the amount of 1,900,000KHR in total. This hard-working woman, Samon, will use her loan portion to purchase fertilizer, corn seeds and chili seeds, and pesticide to apply to her farmland. She highly hopes that, after receiving the loan, her business will achieve good quality crop yields so that she can boost her income as well as improve the living standard of her family.
