A loan of $1,650 helped to pay cash for and buy beer, sheets, tote bags, cosmetics, toys and other products at wholesale.

Mercedes's story

Mercedes, 65, is the mother of four children who are all adults now. She’s a merchant. She sells a variety of products like sheets, bags, cosmetics, toys and beer to her customers who are mainly local neighbors and from adjacent neighborhoods who have become regular buyers and who recommend other customers occasionally who also increase her sales daily.

Mercedes has 17 years’ experience in this activity and started her business in 2006 because before that she had a fruit stand at home. She’s currently applying for a loan to buy beer, sheets, bags, cosmetics, toys and other products at wholesale and for cash in order to be well-stocked for the last two months of the year when family parties increase consumption. Mercedes will attain greater liquidity with these purchases and will increase both her working capital and her sales and profits because this is precisely her goal. With her Kiva loan, first financing with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, she’s start to reach her goal.
