A loan of $625 helped to buy wholesale frozen meats, cosmetics, and fantasy items.

Carmen Irene's story

Carmen is 48 years old and lives in the municipality of Soledad. She makes a living selling various items such as frozen meats, pens, ice cream, ice, and other merchandise from catalogs. Carmen began this business five years ago. Before, she sold lottery tickets, but it was not a good job for her so she decided to open her current business.

Carmen's biggest challenge has been a lack of working capital to invest in her merchandise orders so that she can increase her sales and, thus, increase her profits. For this reason, she is requesting a Kiva loan, her first with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, with which she plans to buy more products, such as frozen meats in bulk, cosmetic products, and fantasy items. With this capital investment, her business will have more liquidity and she will increase her sales and profits. Carmen's main goal for her business is to continue increasing her client base, who are currently mostly friends and family, in order to sell more items.

Carmen closely looks after her family and she hopes to be able to educate her grandchildren.
