A loan of $700 helped to purchase supplies and fertilizers, and to pay for labor.

Juan Rafael's story

47-year-old Juan comes from Telica, in the town of León. He has five children, all of whom are independent. He grew up with no schooling whatsoever. He has spent most of his life working in farming. Ever since he was young, his father took him to work in raising animals and sowing, and that's all he learned. That's the way he supported his children and paid for his household's expenses. He recalls that his first crop was cotton when he was 11 years old. He's requesting a loan in order to purchase supplies and fertilizers, and to pay for labor so that he can better maintain his crops. His idea is to gradually expand his sowing area and to set up a grocery store, because there aren't many of them in his village and there is need for them among the population.
