A loan of $975 helped to purchase twenty bags of organic fertilizer.

Felix's story

Félix is 44 years old and has been married to Nancy for twenty years. They have seven children together, but only three live with them, their youngest daughter being three years old. This family all live in the rustic house they own. Félix is a hard worker and a responsible man. Ever since he got married he has worked with dedication as a farmer. He has the farmland his community gave him and on that land he grows several varieties of potatoes, peas, fava beans, and vegetables like carrots, lettuce, cabbage, and others. However, he considers it more profitable to grow peas and potatoes because of the high demand there is for these products and the profit he obtains by selling them.

"I started out farming two plots of land, and now my production has increased to five," he says proudly. His older children are now independent, so he hires workers to harvest and farm the land. Now he wants to purchase bags of organic fertilizer to start planting potatoes, which is why he is requesting help. This will be his 10th loan with MFP. He says he will pay his monthly installments on time. He belongs to the communal bank Nueva Jerusalén and feels comfortable working as a team. He will invest the requested 2,500 soles in the purchase of twenty bags of organic fertilizer for his future potato crops.
